Kale is a nutrient-rich leafy green vegetable packed with vitamins A, C, and K, fiber, and antioxidants. It’s also a good source of calcium and iron. Bake it in the oven with olive oil and your favorite cheesy seasonings for a crispy, tasty treat that’s infinitely nutritious and super easy to make. No fancy equipment is required – just a baking sheet and a preheated oven.
Kale chips are the perfect snack for people on the go. They’re portable, shelf-stable, and packed with nutrients. Plus, they’re a great way to sneak some greens into your diet.
How to make Cheesy Vegan Kale Chips
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Remove the tough stems from the kale leaves and then tear the leaves into bite-sized pieces. Spread the kale out on a large baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil, massaging it into the leaves with your hands.
In a blender, combine the nutritional yeast flakes, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and salt. Cover this mixture over the kale and massage it in. The more you use, the cheesier it will be! Bake for 15 minutes and then remove from the oven. Flip the kale over and add more of the cheese mixture if needed. Bake for an additional 10 minutes.
Remove from oven and let cool. Serve and enjoy!
Here are some tips for making the best cheesy kale chips:
- Use fresh kale leaves. Kale leaves that are wilted or yellowed will not produce crispy chips.
- Wash and dry the kale leaves thoroughly before baking. This will help to remove any excess moisture, which will make the chips crispier.
- Tear the kale leaves into bite-sized pieces. This will help them to cook evenly.
- Don’t overcrowd the baking sheet. If the kale leaves are too close together, they will not crisp up evenly.
