If you like guac, you’ll go wild for this Super Spicy Guacamole recipe. This is my ultimate go-to guacamole recipe made with the finest, freshest ingredients.

    Spicy Guacamole

I’ve made this version for several occasions and it has turned out perfectly each time. This vegan snack is spicy, citrusy, and SO refreshing.

    History of Guacamole

The word “guacamole” comes from the Nahuatl word “ahuacamolli,” which means “avocado sauce.” A 16th-century Spanish book called “La Carmina Conliminiana” was the first to mention the sauce. This book described a sauce made from avocados, tomatoes, onions, and chili peppers.

However, it wasn’t until the early 20th century that guacamole began to resemble the dish that we know today. In 1912, a woman named Berta Karina Arenas de Valenzuela published a cookbook called “Cocina Regional Mexicana.” In this cookbook, she included a guacamole recipe that included avocado, oil, vinegar, onion, chili pepper, and salt. This recipe was much simpler than the ones that came before it and more closely resembles the guacamole that we eat today.

    How to make Spicy Guacamole

One of the most important things with guacamole is to ensure you find ripe (not mushy!) avocados. Also, be sure to pick up fresh limes, cilantro, Roma tomatoes, and red onion. Now, chop the onion, tomato, garlic, and cilantro. Then, slice open the avocados and lime. Add the avocado, lime, and chopped ingredients to a mortal and pestle, or otherwise, a medium-sized bowl, and begin mixing. Once it’s thoroughly combined, add the spices and garnish with extra cilantro. Grab your favorite tortilla chips (I love any lime-flavored option) and enjoy!

This guac is spicy, so be warned. If you can handle the heat, you’ll love how it turns out. To adjust the spiciness levels to your liking, I would advise tasting as you go! Enhance the heat with additional jalapeños or temper the flames with the cool and soothing avocado.
