One of my favorite breakfast smoothies is this Pitaya Smoothie with Hemp Seeds. It’s delicious, refreshing, and loaded with nutrients. Pitaya, or “dragon fruit,” is a tropical fruit indigenous to South America with a sweet flavor and soft texture. It’s packed with probiotics which is highly beneficial for your gut and immune system. What’s more, pitaya produces the most vibrant and beautiful color, making this an extra fun and pretty treat – almost too pretty to drink!
If you’re looking for a nutritious smoothie that will give you a little boost of energy, then you’ll want to try this smoothie. Adding hemp seeds to your pitaya smoothie will give you an extra dose of protein and healthy fats, keeping you full and satisfied until lunchtime.
In addition, the base of the smoothie made from a mix of frozen fruits including pitaya, mango, pineapple, and blueberries. It’s easily customizable so you can add or subtract any ingredients you prefer! Also, along with a teaspoon of maca powder, I like to include a tablespoon of hemp seeds inside the smoothie, plus a little more to sprinkle on top.
Tips
- Customization options: Feel free to adjust the fruit quantities and add other ingredients like spinach, avocado, or chia seeds for an extra nutritional punch.
- Smoothie or bowl?: Choose your preferred consistency! Blend it smooth for a refreshing drink, or keep it thicker and top it with granola, fruit slices, or seeds for a more satisfying bowl.
- Maca magic: This optional ingredient adds a subtle earthy flavor and may offer a boost of energy and focus.
How to make a Pitaya Smoothie with Hemp Seeds
Simply put all the ingredients together in the blender, then blend, and serve! If the smoothie is too thick, add slightly more almond milk or orange juice. Also, if there’s too much liquid, add some more frozen fruit to balance it out. You could also make it into more of a Pitaya bowl by keeping it in a thicker consistency. That way, you could add layers of fruits and granola on top for added nutrients.
